♥Alphasmart 3000♥
Oh yes, I have jumped on the bandwagon with a lot of my fellow WriMo's. I just bought an Alphasmart 3k on eBay - I got caught up in the excitement generated by those partcipating in NaNo. I'm so glad that I did, because I got it in the mail on Saturday and I LOVE it.
It's very simple - just a word processor. You can't access your email, games, internet.....in short, you cannot procrastinate by finding a host of other things to do besides writing your novel. Focus is a good thing.
I put a new CR2032 battery in for the back-up and I bought new AA batteries - according to the website and all of the personal stories I have read, these batteries are supposed to have an unreal life. It's all good to me. I used the cord that was on my printer to transfer files from the AS to my own computer. It's slicker than butter! So cool watching all of your keystrokes being rewritten on the laptop.
I have decided that my Alphasmart 3k needs a name - so that I don't have to say "alphasmart 3000" each time I am talking about it. His name is "Sam" by the way.
Anycase, I am done touting the good aspects of Sam.
There are also cons though. The keys are a little more stiff than they are on my Toshiba laptop - I can't really "skim" over the keys, because my fingers aren't strong enough (or used to having to be strong enough) and I keep missing the "a" and the "." buttons. Just have to practice a little bit more, strengthen them up.
So, off to type another character sketch up on Sam - just a week left until NaNo starts!!!!!
This is a blog all about my adventures in writing. Triumphs and failures. Banging my head on the key-board and Aha! moments.

- I am 41 years old and have been married to my high-school sweetheart for 18 (almost 19) years. We have two boys - my oldest, Aaron, just turned 18 and he is in college this year - my youngest, Cameron, will be 15 in January and he just started high-school. My hobbies mostly include writing and reading, but I also enjoy camping at our lot, taking walks with my dogs, trying new kinds of tea, and shopping on the internet.
